There Are Many Ways to Get Involved
Volunteers are at the heart of the National Postal Education Center. From preparing educational materials and processing donated stamps to
assisting visitors and caring for our collections, our volunteers play an essential role in keeping our programs and services running.
Whether you’re an experienced stamp collector or simply interested in lending a hand, there are many ways to contribute.
Processing Stamps
Activities may include sorting, soaking, organizing, and preparing donated stamps for educational programs and other uses.
Publicity and Outreach
Activities may include writing press releases, updating online event calendars, helping at community events, assisting with our Stamp Tracks newsletter, and planning special events.
Visitor Services
Activities may include greeting visitors, directing them to the appropriate department, and assisting with scheduled tours and walk-in visitors.
Education and Outreach
Activities may include preparing lesson packets, fulfilling educational requests, organizing teaching materials, and assisting with field trips, workshops, and community programs.
Library and Archives Projects
Activities may include shelving and organizing library materials, assisting with research projects, and helping process archival collections. Some projects require additional training.
Administrative Support
Activities may include copying, filing, organizing records, preparing mailings, and assisting with other office tasks.
Sales and Order Fulfillment
Activities may include assisting customers in our Philatelic Sales Department, helping manage online sales, and packaging and mailing orders.
Building and Grounds
Activities may include general maintenance, grounds care, cleaning, and other tasks that help maintain our facilities and protect our collections.
Fundraising and Development
Activities may include grant writing, fundraising, and assisting with special campaigns and other development efforts.
